Where Is Sasawane Beach?
Sasawane Beach is located about 5 kilometres from Alibag town, in the village of Sasawane. It sits directly on the Arabian Sea and faces the Mumbai skyline — at night, you can see the lit-up coastline of Mumbai from the shore. The beach runs for roughly 2 kilometres and rarely gets crowded, even on weekends.

What Is the Beach Like?
Sasawane Beach is a natural, uncluttered stretch. There are no beach shacks, no jet ski operators and no loud music. What you get instead is a wide sandy beach, the sound of waves, and coconut palms in the background. The water is shallow near the shore and deepens gradually — reasonable for wading and paddling, though swimming depends on season and tides.

Best Time to Visit Sasawane Beach
October to March is ideal. The weather is dry and pleasant, the sea is calmer and the sunsets are spectacular. February and March are particularly good — warm days, cool evenings and fewer crowds than the December peak.
Monsoon (June to September) has its own appeal. The landscape turns impossibly green, the waves are dramatic, and the crowds all but disappear. Sachu's Resort operates year-round. Swimming isn't advisable during monsoon, but beach walks and rain evenings are an experience in themselves.
April to May is hot and humid. Manageable if you have a pool and air conditioning — which Sachu's Resort does.
What to Do at and Around Sasawane Beach
- Walk the beach at low tide — the sand stretches further and you often find shells and small marine life.
- Watch the Mumbai skyline at night — genuinely beautiful from the beach.
- Visit Karmarkar Shilpalaya — a small sculpture museum in Sasawane, walkable from the beach.
- Day trip to Kolaba Fort — the iconic sea fort is 20–25 minutes from Sasawane. Go at low tide.
- Explore Mandwa — 10 minutes by road, with its own beach and jetty area.
Getting to Sasawane Beach
