A weekend in Sasawane — two nights, roughly 48 hours — is enough to genuinely decompress. Here's a practical plan for making the most of it.
Getting There: Friday Evening
Take the evening ferry from Gateway of India to Mandwa. From Mandwa jetty, Sachu's Resort is 10 minutes by road. Pre-arrange a pickup with the resort or take a local auto. Arriving in the evening means you settle in, have dinner at the resort, and wake up on Saturday with a full day ahead.
Day 1: Beach, Local Sights, Slow Evening
Morning: Breakfast at the resort, then walk straight onto Sasawane Beach. Low tide mornings are ideal — the sand stretches wide, the water is calm and almost no one else is there.
Late morning: Walk to Karmarkar Shilpalaya, a small sculpture museum in Sasawane village. 10–15 minutes on foot, genuinely worth a visit.
Afternoon: Head to Kolaba Fort. About 20–25 minutes from Sasawane. At low tide, the fort is accessible on foot from Alibag beach. Check tide timings before you go.
Evening: Back to the resort. Swim in the pool, sit on the balcony, watch the Mumbai coastline light up at dusk. Dinner at the resort.
Day 2: Explore, Then Head Home
Morning: Check-out is at 10 AM, so you have the beach at sunrise. Before leaving, drive to Mandwa Beach for a quick look — 10-minute ride, different vibe. Then the ferry back from Mandwa to Gateway of India. Back in Mumbai by early afternoon.
